Keep The Office Smiling With These 5 Tips

It’s almost Christmas and New Year’s is right around the corner. For most employees this alone brings a smile to their face. For those of you business owners who have scrooges in your office, PayTech is here to give you a few ways to get them smiling too!

Tactic 1: Employee Holiday Bonus

If you are seeing that your employees have low morale around the office and you aren’t sure what to do, consider throwing them a holiday bonus. Go get a dozen holiday cards, fill them with hundred dollar bills and hand them out to each employee. This is a sure fire way to get your employees in a better mood. It may cost you a little bit but you are now investing in the people that work for you. It’s an investment that will pay off in the long run.

Tactic 2: Write Your Employees a Note

Another way to try and boost morale around the holidays is to write your employees a personal note. Since your holiday bonus money might not be in the budget, this is a great way to say thank you to your employees and everything that they do. Be sincere and point out traits that you like about that person. There has got to be at least one reason that you have them on staff. Let them know they are appreciated.

Tactic 3: Give A Gift To Your Employees

Employees will often talk about what they want for Christmas or just needs that they have in their lives around the office. If you listen in on those conversations and pay attention to details, getting them a gift they have been needing or wanting is a great way to turn a frown upside down. This is a great way, if you are looking to spend a little less money, to show your employees that you care.

Tactic 4: Give Your Employees Time Off

Let’s say that normally your business would be open on Christmas Eve or New Year’s Eve. To get on your employees good side you can close down for that day and let them know that family is as important to you as it is to them. One more day out of the week shouldn’t hurt business too bad and of course if it’s not plausible to do then don’t do it. We know that work getting done is important as well.

Tactic 5: Employee Office Party

If you cannot afford to give your employees a full extra day off, a great way to have some fun with them is to throw an office party. You can have it at the end of the day so that work still gets done but they can also look forward to having some time to relax. White elephant gift exchanges are ideal for this type of situation because you don’t have to spend much. Order some pizza and be as relaxed as possible during this time. This shows that you care about them and want to be involved.
